An APN (Access Point Name) is the configuration data that allows a mobile phone to connect to the operator's data network.
In simple terms: the APN tells the mobile phone where and how to access the Internet using the operator's network.
What is the APN for?
The APN allows the operator to:
- Identify the network to which the device must connect.
- Apply the correct rates, security policies, and services.
- Enable mobile Internet access, both in Spain and while roaming.
Without a correctly configured APN:
- Mobile data will not work.
- Calls and SMS may work, but browsing will not.
APN configuration for roaming
For using mobile data while roaming, it is not necessary to change the APN, but it must be correctly configured. The configuration is the same as in Spain:
- APN Name: Movistar
- APN: telefonica.es
- Username: MOVISTAR
- Password: MOVISTAR
- MCC: 214
- MNC: 07
On most devices, this configuration is applied automatically.
It will only be necessary to check it if the device does not establish a data connection while roaming.
