The Theses/Master's Final Projects (TFM) and Bachelor's Final Projects (TFG) published in the UPM Digital Archive can be retrieved not only from the UPM Digital Archive itself but also from any OAI harvester/collector that includes the Archive among its data providers. Furthermore, these documents can also be found through Internet search engines such as Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google Scholar, etc.
All these retrieval options increase the dissemination, visibility, and impact of the documents published in the UPM Digital Archive.
How to publish
1. Self-archiving
The author may self-archive the Master's Final Project (TFM) or Bachelor's Final Project (TFG) by registering in the UPM Digital Archive.
Once registered, they can deposit their TFM or TFG from the User Area. The file used for self-archiving must be a single PDF containing the TFM or TFG. It is recommended that the file size does not exceed 20 Megabytes and must not be larger than 50 Megabytes. If, after optimisation, the PDF is larger than 50 Megabytes, it will be necessary to split and upload the TFM in several PDF files.
2. UPM Digital Archive manages the publication
The student electronically signs (with a valid certificate) the authorisation for the TFM or the authorisation for the TFG for editing and provides a digital copy (in PDF format) of their Project.
2.1. The signed authorisation
- It can be sent to the Library of their School or Faculty by email, UPMDrive, or similar.
2.2. The file
It must be delivered to the Library of their School or Faculty in person, by email, UPMDrive, or similar.
2.2.1. Technical characteristics
The TFM or TFG must be submitted as a single PDF file, preferably not exceeding 20 Megabytes and must not be larger than 50 Megabytes. If, after optimisation, the PDF is larger than 50 Megabytes, it will be necessary to split and upload the TFM in several PDF files.
2.3. The authorisation agreement
- The student, by this act, makes a non-exclusive transfer of the work, which may be made accessible to the public via the Internet or published on CD-ROM or compatible media, or any other electronic medium that UPM considers appropriate.
- By default, the TFM will be published under the Creative Commons (Attribution - No Derivative Works - Non-Commercial) Licence, which does not affect any intellectual property rights of the author. If the author wishes to use another Creative Commons licence, they should contact the Administrator of the UPM Digital Archive: archivo.digital@upm.es.
