First, check that it is not already included in the Scientific Portal, either through automatic import from a specialised database or because it has been previously added by another researcher.
If the patent does not appear in the Scientific Portal, create a new record by selecting Industrial and Intellectual Property in the CV section and Patent as the item type.
Fill in the mandatory fields marked with an asterisk:
- Registration date.
- Title
- Inventors/ Authors/ Holders
Although not mandatory, it is advisable to complete the following fields:
- Scope
- Priority/ Exploitation country.
- Researcher
- Holder/ applicant/ exploiter entity
- Patent identifiers, indicating one of the possible options (patent number, application number, exploitation licence, etc.)
Bear in mind that according to the current UPM Research and Innovation Quality Measurement Plan (PMCII) only the following patents are taken into account in the evaluation of Research Reports:
- With participation of UPM inventors.
- That appear in official sources.
- All those granted in the year under evaluation, with or without exploitation licence agreements, and whether national or international.
- All those generating income in the year under evaluation, even if granted in previous years (patents in exploitation).
In addition, patents with exploitation licence agreements signed by UPM that have industrial or international co-inventors are additionally counted, regardless of the previous categories.
In any case, for them to be considered, it is essential that the scope and country of exploitation are included.
- The Scope field must be completed with one of the following options: International non-EU, European or National.
- The Priority/ exploitation country field must be completed.
