What is a UPM Service Account?

It is a unique identification in the format of name, surname or similar that allows us to have access to UPM services.

At the moment there are approximately 70 services to which having this UPM Services Account gives access.

Among the services are: Email, VPN, Upmdrive, Office365, Eduroam, Moodle, PV...

Let's take an example: Mario González Rodríguez, because he was a Biotechnology degree student, when he pre-registered, it was specified that he has to choose a service account and among the proposals he chose

Along with each service account, a field appears that is the link: Teacher, Student, Labor PTGAS, Civil Servant PTGAS...

You can belong to several groups therefore have several links. For example, if you are a Student and PTGAS Laboral, your UPM Services Account will always give you the best option (the one that corresponds to you the most).

There are services, for example 0365, that assign you the license by hierarchy for each profile.

And what services does that account give you access to? We continue with the example of the Student

Well, the first, to the email service, so the UPM service account mario.gonzalezr has assigned the email mario.gonzalezr@alumnos.upm.es, it will be able to access via webmail or by configuring its mail client

You may also have access to O365 A1 License in this case.

You will have access to Eduroam (Wi-Fi connection service) with your account inside all the buildings of the University and of all national or foreign universities adhered to Eduroam.

You will be able to access the Software Portal (be careful, it must be in the VPN). Within the portal, by belonging to a group (students) you will see the software you can use and how to access it.

You will have access to UPM Desktop (UPM Virtual Desktop). When you enter, you will see several desktops (Windows, Linux and another specific one from your School, in which all the sw available for use will appear without having to install it). All this thanks to their UPM Services Account and depending on their relationship (ETSIAAB Student).

You can connect to VPN which will give you the possibility to connect to other services (software portal, bibliographic resources...)

As a student, thanks to your UPM Services Account, you will have access to Moodle, where you can follow undergraduate courses, own degrees, open training (MOOCS), Starting Point...

You will also be able to access the Virtual Polytechnic with access to your data, forms, utilities...

Another service to which this Service Account gives you access is UPMApp, a mobile application that has its university card and other services integrated.

Most of the services are linked to the SIU and therefore will use your UPM Service Account (important without the at). Very interesting for you to manage your authentication methods and access permissions to your account to have the possibility of two-factor authentication....

If you are, for example, a PDI, or PTGAS, you have some of these services described (Eduroam, VPN, Mail...) although depending on the profile you can access some resources or others.

There may also be resources such as UPMdrive only accessible to these groups.
