Users
Teaching staff, researchers, PTGAS and students (the latter will require special authorisation) of the Technical University of Madrid can access this service free of charge.
The service will be processed through the library of the corresponding centre.
Documents that can be requested
Books, chapters or parts of books, journal articles, conference proceedings, theses or audiovisual material can be requested. Not all libraries lend all types of documents.
The originals obtained will be loaned to the end user according to the rules of the lending library. If the loan is not authorised, the documents may only be consulted in the reading room of the receiving centre.
In the case of libraries belonging to REBIUN, the agreement of the Institutions that allow lending will be respected.
Documents that cannot be requested
Original documents that are easily obtainable and published in Spain, old or valuable books, patents, standards, reference works (encyclopaedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, etc.), complete journal issues, unpublished final degree projects or special materials cannot be requested.
Loan duration
The loan duration is one month, with the possibility of extension if requested before the deadline expires.
Return conditions
Returns must be made within the established period. Materials must be returned properly packaged and in the same condition as when loaned.
The requesting library will be responsible for loss or damage caused by misuse.
Reproduction
Reproduction of original documents supplied through this service is prohibited. Partial reproduction may be carried out provided it complies with current legislation, the rules of both libraries, and does not cause deterioration of the document.
Request
Libraries that do not have the GTBib programme (Interlibrary Loan Management) can send their request to the Interlibrary Loan Service: biblioteca.sod@upm.es.
Requests to the British Library
Due to management changes at the British Library, this institution requires a declaration of non-commercial use of the information and documents supplied through interlibrary loan. Therefore, any request to this provider will require an official form completed and signed by the user, with their National Identity Document. This form is provided at the library.
These forms constitute a declaration of non-commercial use of the information, subject to international fees applicable to copyrighted documents.
Without this form, the library will not be able to provide the document to the user.
This measure, established by the British Library for libraries with non-commercial purposes, has been in force since 1 January 2012.
